Contact meExperienced Mediator in Michigan
Welcome to the BUTLERADR website. I’ve mediated for over 17 years under my individual name. Before 2021, I did my facilitation work while working as a tort litigator. It became cumbersome to work as a full-time mediator without an official business entity.
So, I have opened BUTLERADR, PLLC, with the Latin subscript, “ad propositum” (which does not mean “a distinction without a difference”). It does mean “to the purpose,” and the purpose is to resolve legal disputes.
During my litigation career, I have worked on both the plaintiff and defense sides. I have been at high-volume firms. I have tried a lot of cases. I know what it is like to sit in the litigator’s chair at a facilitation. I believe that experience can help me resolve your client’s case.
My full CV is available on this site, but to summarize, I am currently a trustee of the Detroit Bar Association Foundation, a fellow of that organization as well as chair of the Work-Life Balance Section and co-chair of the No Fault Section. I am a regular contributor to the Detroit Lawyer Magazine. I am a current member of the State Bar of Michigan Public Outreach Committee and the Professionalism and Civility Committee.
I am a neutral case evaluator with the Wayne County Mediation Tribunal Association.
I write about the Metro Detroit legal scene, past and present. New material will appear on this site, as well as some of my recent posts on the www.lexfugit.com blog. This site also includes a link to the full blog, started in 2017.
My mediation procedures are simple. I will use whatever format the parties want. I am happy to do in-person hearings, though I understand that remote proceedings are currently preferred.
There are no administrative fees. There are no cancellation fees. My hourly rate is $250.
I look forward to the opportunity to help attorneys and their clients to settle their cases.
