Michael J. Butler

Michael J. Butler has extensive experience in the areas of no-fault, auto negligence, premises liability, insurance, and general negligence litigation.

Mr. Butler serves as a case evaluator in Wayne and Genesee Counties. He currently serves as a neutral evaluator. He also serves as an arbitrator and mediator and has completed the SCAO mediator certification. He participates in the Wayne County Circuit Court Mediation Program for cases evaluating under $25,000.

In addition, Mr. Butler has had numerous articles published in the Michigan Lawyers Weekly, the Detroit Legal News, the Livonia Observer, and The Detroit Lawyer magazine. He has been a featured speaker and panelist at many law-related events and seminars.

Mr. Butler is a past board member and officer of the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He is a current member of the State Bar of Michigan Public Outreach Committee and Professionalism and Civility Committees. He is currently a trustee of the Detroit Bar Association Foundation, a fellow of that organization, as well as chair of the Work-Life Balance Section and co-chair of the No-Fault Section.

He is a past chairman of the Catholic Central Shamrock Bar Association. He is also a past president of the Catholic Lawyers Society of Detroit, a member of the Judge Kaye Tertzag Tribute Dinner Committee (Purple Sport Coat Award), and the Catholic Central Alumni Association.

Mr. Butler is a recipient of the Judge Richard Hathaway Distinguished Lawyer Award, the Paul W. Crowe Award, the Fr. John Blaska Award (twice), and many awards for his work at Livonia Ladywood High School.
